Disneyland Paris Park
What is it all about?
Themed to the American Old West of the 19th century, Frontierlands are home to cowboys and pioneers, saloons, red rock buttes and gold rushes. Roy Disney said the following about Frontierland:
Frontierland. It is here that we experience the story of our country's past. The color, romance and drama of frontier America as it developed from wilderness trails to roads, riverboats, railroads and civilization. A tribute to the faith, courage and ingenuity of our hearty pioneers who blaze the trails and made this progress possible.
Frontierland in Disneyland Paris houses some of the most iconic attractions in the park. Big Thunder Mountain, Phantom Manor and the Moly Brown river boat.
Frontierland is located at the left of the entrance in the Disneyland Park. It has an old wooden fort, named Fort Comstock, as entrance and some tipi tents to the right of it. As you enter the land you are immediately greeted by the Big Thunder Mountain right in front of you and the Phantom Manor on the hill on the left. At your right hand side you will see the small mining village called Thunder Mesa. This is where the entire theme is build upon.
The story of Thunder Mesa
In 1853, Henry Ravenswood found gold in the Big Thunder Mountain. Soon after he founded the Thunder Mesa Mining Company. This started a gold rush and many people were attracted by the new found wealth. New shops opened, miners and merchants started to settle around the mountain. With his new riches Henry Ravenswood build a big mansion on the side of the hill overlooking Big Thunder Mountain.
